Awkward Dog Interactive designed, programmed, and fabricated six custom devices for a puzzle in Hyundai USA's The Escape Garage promotional campaign for their Ioniq 9 electric minivan.
Each device was a square housing with an LED matrix screen and a USB-C connector, designed to highlight the Hyundai Ioniq 9's many high-output USB ports.
The devices themselves were built using 3D-printed custom housings, an LED matrix, and an Adafruit Matrix Portal microcontroller programmed using the Arduino IDE.
The devices communicated via a centralized Wi-Fi router, through which a Node-RED flow could automatically detect each device as it came online and trigger all online devices to display specific images.
